I had an idea whilst roaming whist on the computer as usual, How beneficial would it be to be able to work as in type and learn at the same time? We all have separate senses that separate parts of our brain controls. Most feel that concentrating on more things than one

minus the effect of the other; I believe the hum main is much more powerful than that. I am sat at this present time in front of the computer with my headphones plugged in. listening, purposely not to any form of music or entertainment based audio. I was actually listening to lessons on how to learn Arabic.

My main goal in this exercise was to see if I could, in live time sit down and multitask using numerous different parts of my body and sections of my brain. So what parts am I using whilst doing this experiment? I am using my hearing to listen to the audio that’s plugged in via headphones, I am using my hands to type this post on a key board to document, I am using my eyes sight to and from the key board to see what I am typing watching out for grammar and spelling’s, as my hands are typing I can also hear the key’s when pressed, my brain is taking in and processing two different flows of information one is my thoughts, the other is my learning. I am trying to consciously separate in my mind the two from each other so that they both have a separate task One for the learning of Arabic which I am taking in via audio the other for the thought processing and for the typing both of which require a great deal of concentration, Especially in writing contextually valuable content such as this that will be viewed by many. But to add another catch into play within the Arabic audio training course in every section a how to ask or how to say piece is presented that I have to repeat to confirm that I understand in both English and in Arabic.

I have seen it many times when someone is talking they seem not to be able to type at the same time. It clouds their vision if they try to talk and type at the same time as whilst typing the conscious mind is in constant awareness mode as it does not stop being conscious. If your typing free hand and not using any type of text to refer to I am positive you can notice new branches of information occurring within your mind that are causing you to keep on writing. This is your conscious mind, your subconscious mind, and relative thinking all working together.

It’s a technique used by many writers and researched by many psychological studies. Think back to when you start writing something in some cases you can start off just by writing the title and from the title you could end up at 4-5 pages sometimes even more without giving it a second thought. So where does that information come from?

Well It is coming from your extremely powerful subconscious mind that can handle massive amounts of information.

What does multi tasking have to do with the subconscious mind

Well without going into too much depth, which would end up making this post to long and your (the readers) get bored lets just say that easing off trying to stay conscious in multitasking is key. Obvious you can’t send both tasks into the back of your head for it to handle them both as then nothing will work as you do have to think a little consciously.

Think of it as a CPU and hard disk relationship in a computer, the processor chip gives the instructions to the hard disk to load up what ever is need for the task and the hard disk presents the information needed for the task at hand. Your subconscious mind is like a massive hard disk that your conscious mind can call upon for information as and when it needs it. If you know how to use it well you can end up becoming very intelligent or at least more than you are now.

Going back to the experiment after that bit of background into the mind and computers I am using that exact method but just twice and separating the tasks of the two. I am using my conscious mind to process the typing as it takes more of a conscious effort to actually type than it does to listen and learn. Your vision has more chance of affecting your concentration than whatever you are hearing. There for me needing my direct alert attention on what I need to be looking at which in this case is the monitor.

I let my hearing and learning of the language training sit to my subconscious mind. I can still fully hear what is being said and the repeating it part is still somewhat difficult whilst typing but as for the information that is being typed as and being taught, the information is being registered of what I am learning. How I managed to put the audio to the subconscious is by lowering the volume to a light sort of hypnotizing level so that I can hear it very comfortably. My body automatically made me feel like doing this so I did. I am relaxing ad taking deep breaths so that there is plenty of oxygen getting into my brain in order for it to concentrate. I am keeping my thoughts clear towards the tasks at hand. And can positively say that this is the first time I have tried this and I have managed to type and learn Arabic in conjunction with each other.

I hope I have taught you something as I have defiantly taught my self a new side to extending the power of this magnificent creation, the human brain. It is just another step to me prioritising my time as I spend a lot of my time on the computer and really wouldn’t mind at all if I can learn extra information at the same time. I think this can be a lesion to anyone who spends a lot of time on the computer. Try this little system out and see if it works for you.
