I originally wanted to start this post off with some bang up to date news of what’s happening in the Muslim world. So I started hunting for fresh news. Turned on my television and tuned into (Islam channel :sky digital 813). Not being to much into news before I was very surprised to see that all or at least most of the reports to do with various countries like Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and even the UK were all related to some form of conflict, difference in opinion or aggression. Basically there was nothing good to say about Muslims and their conduct.

So then I referred to a general notation that I had come across earlier in life regarding the media. That to sell or report a story there has to be some level of either, violence, war, a bad situation turned good, or something that will just shock people into believing Muslims are just bad. Well to shock you “they are bad”, I say this because we as Muslims are supposedly following the Qur’an and its teachings along with the teachings of our beloved prophet (peace be upon him) and these teachings are from our creator. So surely they apply to every aspect or situation that a Muslim could ever be involved in or have come across him/her.

If so then why are we so behind in technology in communication in leadership and in ourselves? These strong comments absolutely do not apply to all Muslims. I’m simply referring to Muslims that make the headlines for the wrong reasons and the sad thing is that there are so many good, rightly lead Muslims out there in the world that are working so hard to make good impressions on non Muslims but being let down by others in their efforts.

I do pray to Allah to guide me to where all the good stories about Muslims of today are so that there is at least a balance between good news and bad news.
